History

In September 2019 Hereford Allotment and Leisure Gardeners Society Ltd became the Hereford Allotment and Leisure Gardeners, a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) Charity no 1185338.

We continue the work of HALGS, but are now bound by the charity commission.

HALGS was established in 1994 to manage the allotment sites in the city on behalf of the City Council who owns the land.

HALGS is affiliated to the NATIONAL ALLOTMENTS SOCIETY (formerly the National Society of Allotment and Leisure Gardens Ltd) and is a Registered Society under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Society Act 2014. As such it is governed by the regulations of these bodies in terms of its management structure.

Should you be feeling nostalgic, this page holds the archives of the previous website below.
